A BIT OF HISTORY

An interior designer for over thirty years, Julie DeVita studied fine art at the Brooklyn Museum and Bard College, interior design at Parsons School of Design and architecture at Cornell and NJIT.  Her eclectic education led to a broad aesthetic and design sensibility, which is reflected in the wide range of projects she has done in her long career. Julie has worked on projects ranging from home renovations to country clubs; from professional offices and showrooms to summer homes and city apartments.

DESIGN STYLE

Julie DeVita’s consistent design theme has been concern for understanding her client’s unique goals and personal expression. Whether the design is needed to develop a new business or create a home for a growing family, each project has a unique story written in space which should reflect the unique identity of the client. A good designer acts as facilitator for the client, allowing for his or her personal expression and for the client to take over the space at the end of the project feeling as if he or she is at “home.”

DESIGN FUNCTION

However excellent a design concept, the execution is everything, and critical in design projects is the interrelationship between the “players”. Creating a strong team foundation and being attentive to the needs of all its members is at the vanguard of any successful project. Architect, contractor and interior designer, as well as the myriad of subcontractors and suppliers, need to work in tandem to get the job done, and the project’s production methodology strongly defines its success. Julie DeVita’s concern for her clients’ well-being is not only for great design, but good construction delivered on time and in budget.
